Milla Milojkovic
If you are wont to check out live music in San
Francisco, you might have the good luck to stumble upon a lovely young
jazz singer who goes by the name of Milla. With
the release of her debut CD "Dream a Little..." which is catching fire,
being played on over a hundred jazz radio stations nationwide, as well
as appearances in New York, Los Angeles, the Park City Jazz Festival and
several prominent venues in the SF Bay Area, Milla is marked as one of
the most exciting new voices on the jazz scene today.
Milla
began her musical career with a rigorous study of classical voice and operatic
training in her teenage years, going on to study at the Manhattan School
of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she earned
her B.M. in Vocal Performance.
Today Milla works with several bands including "The Tribe" whom she plays
weddings with regularly. Milla evokes the feeling of an old-time alto vocalist,
pressing into service the class and elegant throatiness of Ella Fitzgerald
and the light-hearted sass and sexiness of Peggy Lee. Milla chooses her musical repertoire
to allow her playfulness and soul to shine through. Her song selection conveys both a sturdy foundation in the
classics of Porter and Ellington, as well as the daringness to re-create
lesser-known musical gems.
